My 2005 Derbi Atlantis accelerates well and fast. However, I am wondering it all is well. It has 7200 km. Here is the sequence:
- From a standstill, twist throttle. Engine sounds louder for the first inch of throttle travel, wait briefly -- then scooter moves with forward motion rapidly.
- While accelerating, there is a shaking and vibration, then once past an indicated 30 km/h or so, it goes completely as smooth as one would expect a 2-stroke engine to be. In the morning commuter traffic, I have no problem keeping up with cars on the Arthur Laing and so forth. I also ride up Patterson (which becomes Willingdon) from Marine.
- When lifting off throttle, it goes through that same patch of rough\shakiness before settling smooth again.
I emphasize that the bike is making good power and has what I believe to be decent power and pulls better than the average 50cc bike. It has no issues climbing bridges, hills. Its just the rough patch during acceleration I worry about.
Should I be concerned about pulleys and belts?
